What is Prayer?
Pray Unceasingly - Talk to God, Read Scripture, Pray Devotions
For me, prayer is the glue that holds me together. Prayer grounds me and brings me calm and peace in a turbulent and busy life.
I endeavor to pray unceasingly as Paul encourage us in Thessalonians (1 Thes 5:17-18) by keeping God at the top of my mind. I try to set aside a quiet time each day to sit with scripture. Most days I am able to add a devotion, the Rosary, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, or other prayer. somewhere in my day.
I do not limit my prayer activity to a particular place, time, or posture. I pray when I can and as I am able. Sometimes that means praying as I am falling asleep or when I wake in the middle of the night. Sometimes I fall asleep in the middle of a prayer. That’s not a bad thing. It actually helps keep my sleeping time surrounded by the love of God.
When I pray, I find I am more tuned to my own attitudes and/or hurtful thoughts and words and am able to confess them more readily. In God and through prayer, I find patience and the ability to love genuinely without asking anyting in return. Though I am not successful every day, success every now and again in this endeavor encourages me.
